Is there any grading in traumatic brain injury?
Yes, Traumatic Brain Injury can be classified as Mild, Moderate and Severe depending on the condition of the patient on initial presentation to hospital. Mild head injury means simple injuries like concussion and severe injury usually means patient presenting in unconscious state requiring mechanical ventilator support
What is a concussion injury?
Concussion injury is a mild type of head injury. Any injury to the brain which can cause the way your brain normally works, although without having any structural changes in the brain. These injuries are usually not life threatening and can be managed without surgery though some of their effects can cause serious problems like psychiatric and behavioral changes.
How can we identify whether a person is having head injury or not?
Any person who experiences any one of the following should immediately seek medical attention. Danger signs are,
- Loss of consciousness
- Repeated vomiting
- Bleeding from Ear, Nose or Mouth
- Seizures (fits)
- Headache that gets worse with time
- Looking drowsy and not arousable
- Getting more confused, agitated and restless
- Unusual behavior, not recognizing people, place and time.

Are there any danger signs in children?
In children with above mentioned symptoms along with refusal to feed and inconsolable cry should immediately seek medical attention

It Can be broadly classified as Conservative management and Surgical Management. All mild head injury patients and a few selected moderate injury patients can be managed conservatively which means managing with medications and supportive care. While, the remaining patients are managed with surgical intervention
