MIOT Celebrates 15th Founders Day
MIOT International celebrates Founders Day marking the 15th anniversary of the reception of its selfless service to all those needy across the globe. Luminaries from various paths of trade and hearts of all thankful souls shall join in this commemoration of 15 years of service with dedication and dignity.
Started in 1999 as a 100 bedded hospital, MIOT International had grown with time to stand as an imposing structure of 1000 bedded multispeciality hospital, the virtual brainchild of Dr. P.V.A. Mohandas. He left no stone unturned, no expense spared until in February 1999 MIOT opened its doors to the public. Travelling the journey of 15 years receiving thankful notes from people across 129 countries, MIOT had always stayed class apart with the most advanced technologies and unconditional care towards the patients.
This Founders Day will be graced by Mr. Rollen Dany Antoine Faure, Vice President of Seychelles as our Chief Guest, who is on a visit to MIOT
International to meet the citizens of Seychelles who are on treatment in the facility. As we celebrate our legacy, success and power as a leading medical institution in the country, the limelight of this event will be handing over the cheque to Mahesh Memorial Trust amounting Rs.10 Lakhs raised through Carewalk initiative to treat poor children suffering from cancer free of cost.
Carewalk Initiative
Carewalk, a Cancer awareness initiative conceptualized by IBHI (Indo-British Health Initiative) kick started on 4th August, 2013. The motive of the campaign was to create awareness amongst public regarding cancer and communicate a clear message that there is no more a reason to fear Cancer. Cancer is Curable if detected early and if expert treatment is offered, subjective to individual body response and health conditions. During the walk the message on responsibility to be borne by every individual to suspect any abnormality and take it to the immediate attention of concerned specialist in healthcare was also emphasized. The message was spread through word-of-mouth and pamphlets.
Two special Photowalks, in the streets of Chennai were organized to realize the mission. And three Exhibitions were organized for the exhibit and sale of 35 best photographs as chosen by Mr. Rajiv Menon.
Carewalk I – 4th August, 2013 at the British Council Library
The first walk from the British Council Library to Thousand lights mosque was flagged off by then British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis on 4th August 2013, which saw close to 100 enthusiasts including photographers, cancer survivors and people from different walks of life participate.
Carewalk II – 11th August, 2013 at the MIOT International
The second walk on 11th August, 2013 from MIOT International to St. Thomas Mount flagged off by Mr. Rajiv Menon – Ace Cinematographer and most acclaimed Film maker got bigger and had close to 300 people walk to the streets to spread the message. The participants involved the PhotoWalkers community and distinguished doctors and other staffs of MIOT International among many others.
Carewalk Exhibition I – 6th, 7th & 8th September, 2013 at Hotel Hilton
35 best pictures taken during the walk (selected by Mr. Rajiv Menon) were exhibited at Hotel Hilton during the Indo-UK Oncology Summit held on 6th, 7th& 8th September, 2013. The exhibition was open to public as well to dignitaries who travelled across countries for the Indo British Oncology Summit, organized by IBHI..
Carewalk Exhibition II – 13th to 15th September, 2013 at the British Council Library
The exhibition then travelled to the British Council Library where it was displayed from 13th to 15th September, 2013. The idea conceived by IBHI for a noble cause was welcomed and well supported by the British council.
Carewalk Exhibition III – 2nd to 15th October, 2013 at MIOT International
It was then exhibited at the MIOT International during the Joy of Giving week from 2nd to 8th October, 2013 and extended until 15th October, 2013.
The Carewalk initiative was well supported by MIOT International, British Deputy High Commission, British Council, Hilton Hotels, The Hindu & ‘The Chennai Photowalk’ team. Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis who was the then British Deputy High Commissioner, Chennai at the time of Carewalk is now succeeded by Mr. Bharat Joshi.
The proceeds from the sale of pictures and T-shirts at the exhibitions amounting to Rs. 10 Lakhs will be handed over by MIOT Hospitals to Mahesh Memorial Trust (a charity organisation that helps to treat children suffering from cancer free of cost) in the presence of other dignitaries mentioned below, who took active participation to make Carewalk a grand success.
