MIOT Breast Friend Day celebrated at MIOT
The event, MIOT Breast Friend Day organized by MIOT International witnessed the invitees of women from various walks of life which included Ms. Sharmila Mohandas – Artist, Ms. Joshna Chinappa – squash player, Ms. Minori Okawa – Aikido (Japanese Martial Art) expert to name a few. People came together with full enthusiasm to support the efforts of MIOT International to raise cancer awareness with Pinkathon. The event was led by celebrated actor & model Milind Soman.
Dr. Prithvi Mohandas in his welcome speech mentioned that women are the vital part of society who selflessly dedicate themselves for the goodness of family and social cause and in the process care the least to look after themselves. He also emphasized on the purpose of the event which was to do our bit to encourage women on their fitness and awareness towards various ailments and breast cancer in particular and throw light on medical advancements and sophistication available in modern world. Milind Soman graced the show by his presence and briefed on the Pinkathon, an international run event for 3km, 5km & 10km which is about to happen for the First time in Chennai on 13th April, 2014. He also stated the importance of Pinkathon, which is a women exclusive event to raise awareness on cancer and fitness and help the city to get rid of cancer. He also urged the women of Chennai to actively participate and spread the message for the noble cause.
A demonstration of Aikido, a Japanese Martial Art was also performed to make people aware of the defensive techniques that can boost an individual’s confidence and morale. The event was also graced by 4 guest artists including Ms. Sharmila Mohandas who showcased their talent as a part of creating awareness by sketching on the breast cancer theme.
The highlight of the event was involving women in sharing the awareness message on fitness & well-being in their photographs. The event concluded with awarding of coupons for free Health check-up to all women who participated in the event by Mrs. Mallika Mohandas, Chairman – MIOT International.
