The bridge between medicine and dentistry
Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is often referred to as the ‘bridge’ between medicine and dentistry. Our competent surgeons combine surgical training and dental expertise to treat diseases, injuries, tumours and deformities of the face, jaws, teeth, and surrounding structures, and restore both function and cosmetic appearance of the facial region. This includes head and neck cancers, salivary-gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, cysts and tumours of the jaws as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa, such as mouth ulcers and infections. They are also skilled at dental cosmetic surgery.
Our oral-maxillofacial (OMF) surgeons work closely with orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, ENT surgeons, head and neck oncologists and craniofacial surgeons.
Sophisticated tools for complex surgery
In the department’s armamentarium are sophisticated tools that enable our surgeons to perform complex surgeries on the face and oral cavity. They include the Aesculap micro-drill system, Stryker bone-cutting saw drills system, WH implant motor, Stryker plating kit, SYNTHES plating kit, Trocar systems for scarless surgeries and the Nobel biocare dental implant system.
